Wellness – Mind & Body Connection
When we make good decisions regarding
our health our reward is improved health. Daily we have
decisions about our health: what to eat and how much, exercise
and the type best for us, sleep and relaxation, stress relief
and how to achieve it, and many more decisions. No wonder
we sometimes feel totally overwhelmed by all the decisions
and what is best for us. If you have certain areas of concern,
concentrate on those areas first, and then, the big picture
will take focus. Trying to improve all areas at once can
be overwhelming. Little steps toward improvement will lead
to bigger steps in improved health and wellness.
A key question we ask for our families
and ourselves is ‘When should I see a doctor?’
or ‘When should I self-treat?’. With an abundance
of information on the Internet, in magazines, and in books,
we can have guidance in making the best decision. If we
find that self-treatment is recommended for our particular
problem, we have saved time and money. Making educated decisions
can mean lower premiums on health insurance, and there are
many web sites that list excellent self-care books.
As a nation, we are increasingly developing
health problems like diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol,
and many other conditions. Learning to take better care
of ourselves has been shown to prevent or reduce serious
health conditions.
Americans are living longer; we have an
aging population with baby boomers reaching 60 years old.
Living longer can mean living well - healthy in mind, body,
spirit, and soul.
Making the right choices can promote a
healthy balance between the mind/body connection.
